Eating for my brain and body health
so, its been forever since I have written. I'm a very bad speller and punctuation. Recently I read a book that has
changed my whole outlook on life and diet and health. Its called, "This Is Your
Brain on Food: An Indispensible Guide to the Surprising Foods that Fight
Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, and More by Uma Naidoo, MD" It's written
so well and so easy to understand. It has made me understand the relationship
between my gut and brain and the way that relates to my body in general. It
then made me look into the Mediterranean diet. The blue zones. I will never eat
starches again without first refrigerating and then reheating it. Ask me why? It's something they should teach in school.

Missing you even more. Due date would have been....
It is only days till the day I would have met you. Thoughts and tears I thought were going are back and even stronger then before. I miss you every day. I'm not sure how to handle the pain I feel inside. It has been so long I feel most have forgotten about you. I will never forget. My heart aches. I wish I could have held you for even a moment. Time has moved so fast yet it still feels like yesterday I found out that you existed. The best moment of my life. filled with joy and fear. I wish I had longer with you. To feel you grown inside me. To name you. I still wonder if I should. Would it be ok. Would it make the loss even harder. You are my angel baby. I love you and I will weep for you till the day I can meet you. Your mommy loves you.

Anyone with PCOS trying to get pregnant.
Hi, I am 36 years old and I have PCOS. I have been married and trying to get pregnant for almost nine years.
We recently were able to get pregnant for the first time after having both lost 35 lbs each on a special diet. The loss of this pregnancy sent me back to old habits and I have gained 6 lbs back. We have had no luck in the past few months since we were ready to try again. I keep thinking if I could only get it together and diet again that I could have another chance. I am almost 37 and can't help but think I don't have much time left. The only other thing that we did during the time before we got pregnant was try fertility treatments the month before witch did not work. We got pregnant the month after. We have been going through hardships lately and can't afford the treatment again right now. Too much money. I have heard of people doing fundraising to get fertility treatments and even adopt. I was wondering if anyone has done this or known someone who has done this. Me and my husband are parents without a child and it has been hard on us and our family who see that we would be such caring and wonderful parents. Any information that you could share would be wonderful.
Here is the video I took of when we found out we were pregnant before. I miss my angel baby so much. Please help if you have any info.

In a state of happiness.
Ok. It has been a while since I last posted on here. We are still trying to get pregnant and just recently had disappointment with that again. we are still a little behind on bills and such because of a recent job loss. But, I have great hope for the near future and so this is my state of happiness I talk of. I have a great job now making more then I made at my old job. I work with wonderful people who like to have fun and live life to it's fullest. This inspires me to do so again as well. We have decided that one way or another we will have a family. So, we have stopped using credit cards and slowly started to pay them off even with the lack of funds recently. It made not using credit cards very hard but we did it. And we have started saving jars for what is important to us. #1 and the biggest being a baby. We will save up for either another treatment or adoption. But, like I said we will have a family. The hardest of our goals will be to get back on track with our diet. I know it it crazy but it really is cheaper to eat bad food. When we were eating good we were eating organic if this helps with what I am saying. But when we were eating good and organic for those three months, It was the first time I ever got pregnant. It was the best and worst experience of my life. I thought it would never happen. To have felt that joy even for a little bit of time was amazing. It was also the saddest loss of my life. I wish no one ever had to feel that way ever again. So, It tok a while for us to want to try again. For the past few months we have been and have had not luck thus far. So, It was a little sad but we are still working on getting our selves ready. By get our money, minds and bodies in shape. I guess that is it for now. I hope to be on here more often again. It really is good mental therapy. Thank you for listening.

we made a baby.
Ok. So something we did worked. Not sure if it was the diet, the exercise, or the prayer. But we are now 5 1/2 weeks pregnant. I am still overly worried about every little thing. Mostly. Because of all the odds with me having pcos. We took three different hcg level tests over a week and they went from 29 to 61 to 148. That was every two days. So they were doing what they were suppose to do. And so I calmed down a little. Then I got a little cramping that felt like I was about to start and got worried, but easy told this is normal. I'm on crinone for my low progestragin levels.I go for my first real Dr.'s appointment on the 13th. I can't wait. I'm so excited. Hoping anyone who has been trying for as long as we have will have a renewed faith from my story. If you have any questions as to what I did. Please feel free to ask. And baby dust for all.

At a stand still.
O.K., So for the past few weeks I fill like I'm at a stand still with my weight loss. I haven't changed anything. Been taking in the same 1350 calories a day. Working out. Just not losing weight. My personal trainer said I may be gaining muscle and losing fat. My clothes are fitting a little better. I'll no in a couple days when we do our weigh in and measurements.
We tried getting prego the unconventional way last month. It didn't happen. For the next couple months we are just going to try the old fashioned way and work on getting in better shape. Hopefully something we try works.

The waiting game.
Hi, I'm 36 with PCOS. A bad combo. Finally after trying for 8 years we have decided to try fertility treatments. I have to wait till Monday to see if everything worked.
The hardest part for me is all the waiting. You can't help but get your hopes up and then the let down. I have to wait to start my period that I don't get thanks to PCOS. Then have to take meds to get it to start. Then have to wait to see if my folical is getting bigger. Then the worst one next to waiting for prego test. Waiting for ovulation. I about went out of my mind because you have such a short window. This didn't happen either again thanks to my PCOS. So I have to take a hgc shot to make it happen. And now waiting till Monday, two weeks to take prego test. About those it yall.

My little scare.
Ok. So I was working out really hard last night with my personal trainer and I felt a pinch that was painful just above my pelvic bone. I went to the bathroom and there was a little blood. Now the Dr. Told me it would be fine to keep up with my diet and workout routine till I found out if I was pregnant on Monday. So I called today and they told me I most likely didn't cause anything to happen. That it could be a side effect of the crinone I'm having to take. I just want Monday to get here already. I would take a prego test early but due to the hgc shot it could give me a false positive before Monday. So, I just have to wait and hope and pray and beg.

Baby or not a baby? That is the question.
So a whole lot has happened since I last posted. As you know I am super honest so if you don't want to know everything you may not want to read on. We didn't make it on The Biggest Loser. Not that it stopped us from losing about 25lbs each in the past 2 months. We changed our whole diet and hired a personal trainer.
During this process we decided to do the next step in trying to have a baby. Fertility treatments. So we saw a Dr. He gave me stuff to start my period because who knows how long it would have taken on It's own. Love my PCOS. Then went on a round of clomafine. Meanwhile using my clear blue easy fertility monitor so I would be ready for ovulation. Nothing that new yet. But then I had to go in for ultrasounds where they shove that huge stick up in you to see if I had a folical getting bigger. First time I went he didn't even hardly say hi before he thrust that thing in me. Was not fun and had a talk with him afterwards. Was much nicer after that but still not fun. Oh and did I mention the first time he checked there was nothing. I cried the whole way home. Second time he checked there was one. Just one. I cried the whole way home. Then the hard part came waiting for ovulation witch did not happen and I had to have the hgc shot to trigger it. Oh yeah and this was to be done at home by my husband with no supervision. He had to mix two things together and give me the shot in my butt. I askes him a million times are you sure you can you do this, knowing he had never given a shot before. He reassured me he could. So he got everything ready and tried to do it. Was going slow and painful and didn't even break the skin. Got scared I was going to move or that he was going to break the needle and stopped. Went and got our neighbour who had studied to be a nurse. Thankfully she was awesome and got it done without me even feeling it. I still can't believe we were ment to do that on our own with no training. Crazy. Ok so now the real fun part. Hubby had to go in the next day and do his part. Then I waited while they got it ready for me. Finally went in and had to be pried open I think more so then when you get a pap smear if you ask me. And then the fun pinch of the needle. After that I had to lay on the table and do the little baby prayer for what was an eternity. Finally got to go home. Of course had tons of normal activity over the next couple days. Just in case. And now I'm on my third day of what seams like forever waiting the two weeks until we know if it happened for us. Meanwhile I just started crinone gel that has a ton of side effects. One of witch is so gross that if you want to know I'll let you look it up. Again something I can thank my PCOS for. So wish us luck. We should know in about a week and a half.

No baby ''YET".
So if you know me you know two things for sure. I am super honest and I want a baby more than I want to breath. Me and my husband have been trying almost anything we could afford to have one for the past 8 years. I was told I have PCOS about 6 years ago, but not really told a lot about. But they didn't really know a lot about it. I recently decided that losing weight would be the next logical step in the let's make a baby roller coaster. We first tried to get on the biggest loser and all though there is still a chance we could get a call back it most likely won't happen. So we are going it on our own. It will be hard but starting April 1st we will be in full biggest loser swing. And so to prepare I have looked up diets for getting pregnant and for pcos. Surprisingly pretty close. Also I will be taking vitamins and herbs to help in the process. Hoping that between all of the above and my sheer will power we can make the baby thing happen once and for all. Any help or advice you might have will be welcomed. I am on an all low glycemic index diet. Treadmill every day. And taking wild yam, red clover, and chasteberry. Plus vitamins b6, b12, flaxseed, fish oil, probiotics, and trying to decide if I should take the meds the Dr. prescribed for high trigycerides and cholesterol. Hoping this will have a happy ending. If you have something natural that has worked for you please let me know. Thank you.

New Years resolutions.
If you have ever made a resolution, I would guess you have broken a resolution. The worst part about making/breaking one is that you feel like you failed and why not just give up because you already broke it. This is why I think making a New years resolution is not the way to change something you really want to do. All the good things I have changed about my self have been done by just deciding what I have to do to make them happen and then doing it. Like when I quit smoking. I had to just throw them out and not buy any more ever. Now I did that process like five times and was told by people I was just throwing money away when I would start again and throw them out when I decided I was going to try again. I have not smoked in a very long time and still crave them all the time but as with any addiction you can hardly ever have just one more and not want a whole lot more. So, this worked for me. It doesn't mean it will work for you. I can tell you that giving up will never work for you. If you want a change in your life. No matter how many times you fail you must never give up and this is the key. The secret if you will, that every person who has ever made any big change has in common. So this year I have decided to have a non resolution to get healthy and be happy. And see as many people in my life as I can and make tons of memories. I am not going to give up. Please don't give up on your dreams either. No matter what.

Respect the gift God gave you. Your child.
Speaking as someone who has been trying to get prego for over 7 years. It drives me crazy when I see someone yell at their child because they are sick and need a little extra attention or need to go to the bathroom and that just wasn't in your plans. (I have been told by parents that I confront about the bathroom thing that they don't really have to go. They just want to play. I say how do you know unless you are them. It is not good for them to hold it for a long time.) I know there are days that are more stressful then others but this is no reason to take it out on your child. I think sometimes people forget what it is like to be a child. To not understand what is going on around you and to blame yourself for everything. Any time anything goes wrong they blame them selves. The stress of not having a real voice.
Now I am not of the school of don't ever spank for any reason but at the same time there is no need to beat them within an inch of their lives because they forgot to close the front door again. It just kills me when I hear stories of abuse of any kind towards a child. There is no reason for it. The only people who could do such a thing are monsters.
As, soon as you had that child you should decide that their needs are more important than yours. As such, If they need to be in bed at a certain time to get up for school the next day and be awake and actually able to work, but your really want to do something that will keep them up half the night. if you don't have a babysitter. Guess what? You shouldn't do it. or if you are a single parent and you want to date that does not meen you should introduce your child to every new conquest for them to only lose them if it doesn't work out. Or worse yet, If you just met someone and you don't know them to well. NEVER leave your child with them alone. Oh and That doesn't mean you just met them and you feel like you've known them your whole life. You still just met them. Even if you've known someone your whole lives, You never really 100% know anyone. Your child diserves better than that. There is a reason that Roughly 33% of girls and 14% of boys are molested before the age of 18. And that's just the reported ones. It's because people are to trusting with there chilren and the children haven't been tought that no one has the right to touch you in certain areas. I know it isn't the easiest conversation to have with a young child and you shouldn't have to have it but take it from a victim of child molestation. You would much rather have that conversation then find out someone you knew and trusted has done the unthinkable act to your child. They can't be affraid to talk to you about what has happened. That is how the person that has done it gets their power. They make them affraid. I know I went off a little about this but it is very important to me.
Please just listen, teach, love and nurture your children and above all else protect them.

My take on road rage.
First, we are all guilty of it a little bit unless you have led a charmed life. Second, most of us at some point it another have been the cause of it. Let say for instance you just found out your child was rushed to the hospital. You make an illegal u-turn and cut someone off or and I know a couple of people that do this next one. You speed up because you don't want that person to gut in front of you no matter what. Now I understand you can't be a door mat for others and that there are just plain and simple bad drivers. The kind that you wonder if the person that gave them their license was fully awake that day. But, most of the people that do stupid things that get you mad probably have something going on in their lives that has been the indirect cause for the temporary laps of judgement. It could be any number of things. A death in the family that you have to get to the funeral, a sick child you need to pick up meds for, a husband or wife layer off from work and now you have to get to work to keep the only income coming into the house. Just think before you rage if you can about what they might have going on that would cause them to do something so careless.
If you have just been trying to merge for a half hour because there is road construction and it's going from 3 lanes to 1; and now someone wants to merge in front of you. Think of the frustration you just had. They now have that same frustration unless you make it easier on them. I guess what I and trying to say is put yourselves in their shoes.

Love and learn from your elders.
They may not know everything, but they have been here longer so I'm sure for the most part they know more. They have most likely done that thing they are telling you not to do and it didn't work out to well for them. Or they have seen it done by someone else. Either way they have had life experience that you haven't. Insight that you can't have at your younger age. Now, this is not to say they always know best or that you should blindly listen to everything they say and never have learning experiences for yourself. But don't think that just because they say it that it must be wrong. They will undoubtably be able to teach you a few things your life will be the better for.
I started this because I visited my grandfather tonight and he is my last living grandparent. If your lucky enough to still have any grandparents left take the time to really listen to them. You never know what you'll learn. Or at the very least it will show them how much you really love them. He is an amazing man who has had an amazing life. I am just lucky when he share his life stories with me.

Stealing is bad for your health, if i find out.
Just found out today that the home health person that comes to take care of my grandfather might have stolen his wife's ring and bracelet. There is only one thing I hate as much as lying and that is stealing. I just can't wrap my mind around it. The sad thing is that it was a ring his wife has had for over30 years from her first husband who is no longer with us. To her it is irreplaceable. To the person who took it, it's got no value other than the money they can get for it. I can only hope that people that steal are unaware of the heartache they cause. Otherwise they wouldn't do it. But I know this can't always be true.

Don't tell me something and then tell me to keep it SECRET.
This always gets to me the most. Someone will talk about someone behind their back and then tell you not to tell them. This in it's self is not a lie but when the person they were talking about asks you if they were talking about them that's when the lying starts. So, by telling you to keep it secret they are telling you not to be HONEST. I personally never say anything about a person I wouldn't be willing to say to their face. Now, I know you don't want to tell the birthday boy there is a suprise party. But, don't start talking crap about someone and if I know that person expect me not to tell them. Just saying.
I am the worst secret keeper ever. I use to tell people this all the time. If you don't want everyone to know about it please don't tell me. You know that little voice in your head that says "you shouldn't say that." I don't have that filter. If I'm thinking it. I'm saying it. I guess that's how I became the HONEST person I am. You can't lie if you say everything on your mind. I tell perfect strangers about getting a breast biopsy. I just say everything. Secrets are just another form of lying to me. If you don't tell someone they were adopted their whole life is it a secret or is it lying? Just saying. If you say what's on your mind. Be HONEST and don't keep secrets you will have a much happier life.
